Agatha Christie Festival.

This September marks the 120th anniversary of the birth of Torquay's most famous literary daughter.

The festival will be launched on Sunday September the 12th 2010, with an Agatha Christie Fete in Palk Street And Princess Gardens, Torquay, with Dame Agatha's grandson Mathew Prichard.

During the week, there are more than 40 events lined up including theatre productions, talks, walks, drives, cream teas and tea dances.

Dame Agatha was a keen swimmer and the charity swim on Sunday the 19th will raise money for Devon Air Ambulance and an event is planned with Mathew Prichard at the new Paignton library.

The Agatha Christie Birthday Extravaganza fireworks takes place on Wednesday, September 15th.

This year is special as it is not only the 120th anniversary of Dame Agathas birth, but the 90th birthday of her detective Hercule Poirot and the 80th birthday of sleuth Miss Marple.
