Oldway Mansion was built for the inventor of the sewing machine, Isaac Merritt Singer, in 1875. The interior was altered by Singers 3rd son taking referencing from the palace of Versailles and the Fontainbleau Castle. Sold to Torbay Council in 1946 for £45,000

There are regular conducted tours of the grounds and interior through out the summer season. The mansion is open 9-5 Mon-sat and during the summer is open Sundays 2pm-5pm additionally.
